COVID-19 Update 23/03/2020

Coronavirus COVID-19 ANNOUNCEMENT (23/03/2020)

SSAA Para is continuing to monitor  the situation with Coronavirus COVID-19, and are considering a number of options surrounding our operations over the coming months.

First and foremost, of utmost importance to us is the health and safety of our volunteers, members and guests and in this regard the following updates are required to be implemented based on current government directions

As of midday Monday 23rd March:

  1. The 10m air range and 25m pistol range number 3 are classed as indoor sporting venues and will be closed until further notice to all members and visitors.
  2. When the canteen is to supply food, it will only be on a take away basis and not to be consumed in the canteen, this includes BBQs. The canteen will be limited to a maximum of 11 people in it at anytime.  As a result we will be limiting attendance numbers for upcoming safety training courses.
  3.  The range will be closed to visitors to shoot, however visitors are able to attend the club to drop of membership applications and licenced paper work.
  4. Please continue to practice social distancing of 1.5m between people (for example using every second bench) and remove physical interactions like handshakes ect.
  5. Club firearms will need to be wiped down before and after each use and ensure that good hygiene is maintained with regular hand washing. Wipes are available in the canteen
  6. Please ensure that you follow the quarantine requirements if you have travelled overseas or have been in close contact with a confirmed case.
  7. Most importantly should any of our members or guests have any flu or cold like symptoms, or are aware that they have come into contact with someone who has been infected with COVID-19, we ask that you DO NOT attend a SSAA Para Range and that you stay at home and follow the Governments recommendations.

  8. SAPOL have also provided a grace period for handgun shooters between March and September 2020 to complete their shoots. Please see the attached flyer for further details. Club members will be required to maintain a financial membership during this period as per regulation 14 (3)(e)ii of the firearms regulations through the club chit system. However, the required shoots will not be mandatory.

If you have any further questions then please contact the club secretary.
